The 411 on Mike
Mike Tino is a 22 year old living in Long Island, NY. You can follow him on twitter at @mjsi24
What do you do?
I recently graduated from Mount St. Mary's University with a BA in Communications, so in today's economy I'm doing whatever I can to survive. I work the early morning shift at radio station WLIE AM 540 as a board operator and host a weekly public affairs show on the station called "The New York Experience." I'm also currently an intern at Sharp Entertainment for Animal Planet's "Underdog to Wonderdog", and come the holiday season I will be doing a seasonal Support Associate job at Macy's. Additionally when I can I do freelance writing.
With all these jobs, I regularly pull 15 hour work days getting up and out of the house at 5:30 AM and not getting home until 9 PM at night, but I've still been able to get in my exercise and lose weight even though life's crazy. I hope to eventually find myself a career in television production.
Mirror mirror on the wall…
When I look in the mirror I see a brand new me; a significantly more confident, less self-conscious guy who is ready to take on his new life.
Goals for the Active for Life 6 Week Challenge?
I'm looking forward to building up my core with the new core exercises and to be challenged by how the game will tailor the exercises to my current activity level. Hopefully I'll burn off more body fat, tone up, and maybe achieve a normal BMI for the first time!
Are you working out these days?
I do now thanks to EA SPORTS Active! After completing the 30 Day Challenge, in June, I gained enough confidence in my physical abilities to start running in the park with a friend during the summer, use exercise DVDs, start going to the gym, and I now even have a workout routine that I am able to do anywhere using my body weight that consists mainly of cardio, push ups, crunches, and tricep dips off a chair or table. Of course I still return to the original EA SPORTS Active Personal Trainer, but I'm definitely looking forward to all of the new activities in More Workouts!
What you love
My legs have always carried me well, although my arms and shoulders are starting to get better now too.
What you love a little less
Stomach's not a spare tire anymore, but it's still like a smaller innertube.
What was your experience with EA SPORTS Active Personal Trainer?
I started the challenge at 211 pounds, and now weigh 173! I lost around ten pounds during the 30 day challenge and now am almost down 40! I used to regularly wear 38 size pants, I now wear 32-34 size pants. I now feel like I can truly accomplish anything I set out to do since I am finally in control of my body and weight. My Dad tells me that my success is inspiring him to keep trying to lose weight, and I really hope it works out.
How will you reward yourself after this challenge?
I am going to donate all of my old clothes that don't fit me anymore to a thrift Store, in order to say goodbye to that old me forever!
What are you Active for?
I’m Active for my life, my health, my happiness!
Mike, Hey bud. It was fantastic to get to know you at the commercial shoot. We had a pretty good time didn't we. I'm looking forward to reading your updates as you post them. Good luck!!! I know you can do it! Roger

Mike, Although I am 32 years older than you...you inspire me. I was at 224 and a 38 waist pants before Active Personal Trainer. I am now at 205 and a 236 waist pant. I look forward to watching your progress and I, too, am starting the More Workouts hoping to get down below 200 and into those 34's Ken
