Product FAQs: Basic Controls
You need the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. The Nunchuck has to be plugged in to the Wii Remote for all exercises. You can also use the Wii balance board for some exercises, but it is not required to use EA SPORTS Active.
-How should I use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck with EA SPORTS Active?
You will use the Wii remote and Nunchuck in different ways depending on the exercise. We recommend you follow the trainer instructions and videos before each exercise. As a general rule you will always hold the Wii remote on your right hand. You will either hold the Nunchuck on your left hand or placed on the leg strap, depending on the exercise.
-What should I do if the controls do not respond to my movements?
Always try to follow the trainer and mimic his movements, watch the how to video and instructional pictures before the exercise to ensure you are doing the exercise correctly. Listen to the trainer tips and follow the instructional text on the screen as you do the exercise and do the workouts as recommended. Make sure that if the exercise you are doing requires to have the Nunchuck on the leg strap that it is inserted properly, pointing down with the control stick facing to the right.
Product FAQs: Profile
You should enter your correct weight when you create your profile as the calories displayed during the workout are based on the weight that you enter .
Product FAQs: Leg Strap, Resistance Band & Clothing
You should place the leg strap on your upper right thigh and the pouch should face upwards. The pouch should rest on your thigh. The strap should be fastened tightly but not so tightly that it feels uncomfortable. It is recommended not to wear baggy pants or jeans to minimize risk of strap falling off. If the strap is falling off try wearing a different pair of exercise pants and/or shorts so that you can fasten strap to your bare leg.
-How do I put the Nunchuk in the leg strap?
Open the pouch and slide in the Nunchuck with the widest part going in first, and ensure that it’s inserted fully into the pouch. The Nunchuk should also be placed on its side within the pouch so it should feel comfortable when its resting against your thigh. The control stick on the Nunchuk should be completely covered by the pouch and pointing to your right side. If it is facing the wrong way your leg movements may not be recognized.
-How do I put the resistance band together?
You can find instructions with photographs inside the manual in the box on how to assemble the resistance band.
-Can I use a different resistance band than the one included in the box?
Yes. If you are looking for a higher intensity upper body workout you can use a higher grade resistance band and a lower grade band if you are looking for a lower resistance workout. However, using a different resistance band could affect your calorie calculation as this tool assumes you are using the resistance band included in the box. If you are using a higher grade band and your moves are not being registered on-screen it may be that the band is too heavy and not allowing you to complete the exercise properly. Make sure you are using a resistance band that allows you to complete the exercises properly.
-Can I buy or order replacements for the leg strap and resistance bands?
Yes you can buy an accessory pack that contains a leg strap and a resistance band at your local retailer or online at www.ea.com
-What type of clothes should I wear to work out with EA SPORTS Active?
No specific type of clothing is required; however using some comfortable clothing can help you have a more enjoyable workout. Try not to wear baggy pants or pants that are slippery to minimize risk of the leg strap slipping. It is also recommended to wear comfortable exercise shoes in order to have the right support when running or jumping.
Product FAQs: Journal & 30 Day Challenge
No, you must do the 30 day challenge on your own in order for EA SPORTS Active to track your progress. However you can do many pre-set and/or custom workouts with a friend, though they will not count as part of the 30 day challenge.
-Why is there a different calendar for the Journal & 30 Day Challenge?
The journal calendar keeps track of every workout you do (including 30 Day Challenge workouts.) When you are in the 30 Day Challenge you will see a slightly different calendar that only tracks the specific workouts that you do as part of the 30 Day Challenge. If you are only doing the 30 Day Challenge, use this Calendar to show your progress in the challenge, what your next 30 Day Challenge workout is, and when your planned rest days should be.
-I forgot to fill out my journal and the day changed! Can I go back and fill out my journal?
Yes. There are tabs on the top corner of each Journal page that let you flip forward and backward through your journal. You will not be able to do workouts for days you missed; however, you are allowed to fill out your Journal survey and record other outside / fitness activity for past days.
Product FAQs: Custom Workouts
If you saved the workout under “workout by myself” you will not be able to access the custom workout when working out with a friend. In order to do this you must save your workout under the “workout with a friend” section.
Product FAQs: Exercises & Overview
You should follow the on screen prompts during all the exercises to ensure you are doing them at the right pace; all exercises are designed to work at a specific pace. Some exercises will show on screen messages that tell you if you are following the right pace, others will use a “ding” sound effect to let you know when your next move is coming up. You can also follow the trainer in the picture in picture window and follow their lead. They will move when its time for you to continue.
-How do I skip an exercise?
If you find an exercise too difficult you can skip it. You can do so by pressing the + button on the Wii remote to go to the pause menu and selecting “skip exercise”. You can also deselect exercises on the Today’s Exercise screen before the workout by marking a red “X” next to the exercise you do not want to do that day.
